Car 29-100 - 2009 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor
This Crown Victoria Police Interceptor provides a mix of qualities such as handling, performance and value that make it particularly suitable for police work. It is outfitted with Federal Signal's Arjent light bar, which has powerful LED and halogen light assemblies. Each cruiser put into use is custom outfitted to OPP specifications. All light systems, internal cages, communications equipment, decals and safety gear are added to the vehicles when they arrive at GHQ. OPP Fleet Services staff can process approximately 1,000 vehicles (cruisers, SUV's and other specialty cars or trucks) in an average year.
Cruisers typically have a road life of two and a half to three years, dependent upon mileage. Once they are finished their time as police cars, they are stripped of their special gear and sold at auction, often finding second "lives" as taxi cabs or delivery vehicles.
One of six specially equipped models with commemorative embroidered seats and special hood decal, this particular 2009 cruiser was assigned to General Headquarters to travel the province in celebration of the OPP's 100th Anniversary.
