Some municipalities/regions may not have 9-1-1 service. Use the toll free number, or contact your local police service for assistance instead. Some cellular carriers also offer *OPP (star-OPP) emergency service. Please contact your cellular provider to determine availability. Report minor crimes online

Report a crime online

Our online Citizen Self Reporting tool allows you to report minor crimes such as theft, property damage and driving complaints. You can use this tool to submit a report from your computer or mobile device without going to an OPP detachment. All submissions will be sent directly to the OPP and reviewed by an officer.

We welcome requests from the media on incidents, corporate issues or traffic-related matters. Members of the media can contact us using the methods listed here.

Local or regional incidents

Requests for information from members of the media can be made directly to the detachment or region of jurisdiction for the incident.

Highway Safety Division

The toll-free number for media inquiries regarding Greater Toronto Area traffic matters is 1-877-677-8707 (out of province 1-905-841-5657).

Hours are 5:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday to Friday. After hours, the media line will have a recorded message with a contact number for media inquiries.

Corporate issues

Media requests on OPP corporate issues can be made to the Media Relations Unit of Corporate Communications at opp.media@opp.ca.

Regular business hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
